Gori Music college
Gori music college was founded in 1963. Since 1969 it has been headed by Aleksandre Kacharava. It is an important centre of musical life of the town. In 1970 on the initiative of A.Kacharava and a young teacher of the college Shalva Mosidze, a girls chamber choir was founded, which soon attracted the attention of musicians and music lovers in the whole country. In the 1970s, the music college had creatively powerful choral and vocal departments, which allowed opening opera- and children's ballet studios at the college in 1979, this being uprecedented throughot the Soviet Union. The opera studio staged Orpheus by Gluck, Nishnoba (Engagement) by Otar Taktakishvili, Bastien and Bastienne by Mozart, Secret Wedding by Cimaroza, Tsigni Pitsisa (Book of Oath) by Nikoloz Gudiashvili, Tsitelkuda (Little Red Riding Hood) by Vano Gokieli.
